The Assassin’s Creed is (obviously) all about the assassin’s and their assassinations so, because of this, there was a great deal of importance on who they assassinate and how they look to the player! Between extremely satisfying assassinations of those characters we hate so much, to amazing cinematics that make it feel like a great action movie, here is our list of the top 10 assassinations in the Assassin’s Creed games!
Starting off at number 10 is the Haytham Kenway assassination in Assassin’s Creed III!
Even though this may not have been a very thought out assassination full of hiding spots, stealth moments and intense fighting, it was one that still hit deep with a lot of players. Through a good chunk of the game, players play as Haytham Kenway which eventually is replaced by Connor, however, it is when we see Connor killing Haythem that it really struck us how intense the storyline was getting.
At number 9 is the Brasidas Assassination in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!
Brasidas actually helped us quite a lot through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey so, it is only natural that we kind of grew fond of him so, seeing him die in such a brutal way was quite shocking and, not only that but it was Deimos that killed him, with a spear straight through the skull! Ouch.
At number 8 is the Rudjek’s assassination in Assassin’s Creed Origins!
When it comes to assassinations, the newer titles in the series definitely made it easier to do so and a lot less significant, however, that doesn’t mean that some of the assassinations aren’t impactful! This one in particular is quite intense because it’s (pretty much) our introduction to Bayek and the game as a whole! At the beginning of the game, we see Bayek assassinating Rudjek with a knife that went through a mask. Pretty much, he just presses the mask onto Rudjek’s face, which obviously kills him. This is really just a way to show the raw emotion and anger that Bayek has, a true example of what was to come!
At number 7 is the Jack The Ripper assassination in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: Jack The Ripper DLC!
Jack the Ripper is the historical character that terrorized the streets of London with his horrible murders so, straight away he is a very hated character. Being so despised, it is only natural that his final breath taken away by the player is that much more satisfying! The fact that we actually get to kill Jack The Ripper, the murderer that killed so many people is just incredible!
At number 6 is the Maxwell Roth assassination in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate!
Yes, we all know that Jacob Frye is not the most subtle assassin in the history of Assassin’s Creed but, honestly, that is kind of why we like him so much! Maxwell Roth is the leader of the Blighters and the proud owner of the Alhambra Music Hall however, even though both Jacob and Maxwell were on good terms, that eventually ended and the assassination was as dramatic and intense as we’d expect from Jacob!
At number 5 is the Francesco De Pazzi assassination in Assassin’s Creed II!
Even though Francesco did try to hide from Ezio, there was really no point in doing so because, after all, Ezio is kind of the ultimate assassin and he will find you no matter where you go! It was a pretty sad assassination (with Francesco not being brave enough to face Ezio) but one that felt incredibly satisfying as well!
At number 4 is the Cesare Borgia assassination in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood!
This was more of a fight than an assassination but, regardless, it is one that is very worth mentioning! Cesare and Ezio go through a pretty lengthy fight and it doesn’t end there! After the fight, Cesare still proclaims that he can’t be killed by any man, which just made Ezio let go of him, with Cesare falling to his death!
At number 3 is the Julien Du Casse assassination in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag!
This entry in the series has a lot of beautiful vistas and lush islands so, it was only natural that the developers would take this into consideration when creating this mission! Having to go through the jungle to reach a town, just to jump into the water and climb onto the boat where Julien is hiding is quite epic but, nothing felt as good as jumping with a blade on our hands and stabbing Julien, taking his life.
At number 2 is the Abu’l Nuqoud in Assassin’s Creed!
This target is known to enjoy very exuberant parties full of wine and luxury so, it was only natural that as a trained assassin, we would assassinate him when he least expected it! After having to dodge quite a few attacks and arrows, Ezio has to climb onto a statue just to get onto the balcony where Abu’l is located and, after that, a final blow to the throat and he’s gone!
Finally, at number 1 is the Sivert assassination in Assassin’s Creed Unity!
For all the problems that Unity had, we can’t really complain about the assassinations because this entry in the series actually made them all look insanely cool. Having to infiltrate Notre Dam is already an epic sequence however, the assassination feels that much more satisfying simply because we eventually find out that he was one of the people that plotted the murder of Arno’s father!
All in all, this series is all about assassins and their assassinations so there are a lot of them worth mentioning but, it really all boils down to personal taste!
