Videogames are a very complex form of media that takes a lot of code, a lot of testing and a lot of polygons to make so, it is only natural that, along the way, some errors here and there contribute to creating a monstrosity of a bug or, in some cases, several! The Assassin’s Creed franchise is definitely no stranger to bugs and glitches so, without further ado, here is our list of the top 10 bugs in the Assassin’s Creed games!
Starting off at number 10 is Special Climbing in Assassin’s Creed II!
This entry in the Assassin’s Creed series was a fantastic one and so was the climbing mechanics in it, don’t get us wrong, however, sometimes, it could get slightly strange. You see, sometimes, if you were climbing onto a rooftop, or a balcony, or anything for that matter, Ezio’s legs seemed to stop working and they would just slide wherever you wanted to. I mean, we know that the assassins are very skilled in climbing and parkour but, that is a whole other level.
At number 9 is Active Hand in Assassin’s Creed III!
In one of the missions in the game, Connor is tasked with killing a few guards in order to ask some very serious questions and, after engaging in combat with them and killing every single of them, a cutscene plays out, however, that is where the glitch happens! Connor is supposed to be holding the collar of the guard as he threatens him for information, however, his hand seemed to miss the mark and it just goes on a frantic attack, nowhere near the guard’s collar.
At number 8 is Flying Through London in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate!
This actually happened at BGS 2015 where Assassin’s Creed Syndicate demo booths could be found throughout the show floor. This glitch is still pretty funny today and we almost wish the developers would have left it in the game. When ziplining, somehow, the zipline could eventually disappear, which would allow the player to fly through the map, which is just amazing.
At number 7 is Stuck NPCs in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag!
The Ai of this entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise was actually pretty good, however, it definitely had its moments of weirdness! Sometimes, when you are on a ship for a long time, it can totally mess with your head but, to the point of floating in the air as you throw yourself off of the highest point in the ship? I mean, I guess anything is impossible in the Assassin’s Creed universe.
At number 6 is Falling Into The Abyss in Assassin’s Creed Unity!
This entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is known to be the most buggy to date, with a lot of bugs being game-breaking ones, however, it also had some that were actually pretty hilarious but, yeah, this one is not one of those. Unless you are into the idea of falling into the void, then this bug would most likely freak you out a bit. We don’t really know how it happens and why it does so frequently, but a bad fall could literally equal a falling into the endless void, prompting you to reload the save and hope it doesn’t happen again!
At number 5 is Growing Monstrosity in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!
We don’t really have much to say about this bug because it is that surreal but, pretty much, sometimes, NPCs would just grow into monstrosities and, yeah, even though it’s a rare bug, it’s literally the stuff of nightmares!
At number 4 is Invisible Civilians in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood!
Look, we’ve all had to fight invisible civilians once or twice in videogames, that seems to be a bit of a common glitch in most games and, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is no exception to that! Sometimes, as you walk around, civilians might just disappear…I guess you could say, they are the perfect stealth masters!
At number 3 is Unified Animals in Assassin’s Creed Origins!
The wildlife in Assassin’s Creed Origins was actually pretty good, however, sometimes, they would make some pretty weird decisions. If you were lucky enough to see this glitch then you’d probably be very confused. Pretty much, it would make it so that animals stop and rest on top of another animal, merging together. Such is the way of nature, I guess.
At number 2 is Opening Waters in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag!
This entry in the series is one that is highly regarded by the series’ fans as one of the best entries and, the reason why is not only because of the story and the characters present in the game but, also, because of the addition of naval battles! Yes, this was the Assassin’s Creed game that introduced the ability to explore the seas and, be a proper pirate by engaging in battle with other ships! It also had a pretty freaky glitch that came along with it. You see, sometimes, the sea would literally open a gap where your crew would eventually fall into…Did we do something wrong, Poseidon?
Finally, at number 1 is No faces in Assassin’s Creed Unity!
This might just be the best glitch to ever come out of the most infamous entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and, honestly, it’s one that among all the other glitches, actually made us laugh quite a lot! This glitch involves exactly what the name entails, a set of eyes, nose and teeth, without any face to attach themselves to! It was pretty much a glitch that made anyone affected have no face at all, but it was hilarious as the cutscenes played out anyway so, we’re glad it was a thing!
