Leonardo Da Vinci in Assassins Creed II

Top 7 Side Characters In The Assassin’s Creed Games

Introduction:

We all know that the Assassin’s Creed series has a lot of great protagonists, however, the side characters that are present in the several different entries of this series are also as fleshed out as the main characters, with their own motives, personalities and background stories! Because of how amazing and memorable some of the side characters are in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, here is our list of the top 7 side characters in the Assassin’s Creed Games!

Starting off at number 7 is Benjamin Franklin in Assassin’s Creed III!

Benjamin is, obviously, a recreation of the real-life historical Benjamin Franklin and, because this is Assassin’s Creed, he also has a pretty important role in the game, albeit not completely dependent on the story! If you are patient enough to hear him out throughout the game, you will be able to get to know his work and you can (eventually) even see him signing the declaration of independence which, you know, is kind of a big deal.

Myrrine in Assassins Creed Odyssey

At number 6 is Myrrine in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!

The story of this entry in the Assassin’s Creed games is, quite literally, a Greek tragedy! After all, the character you choose (whether it’s Kassandra or Alexios) jumps off of a cliff in order to save their baby sibling, therefore becoming orphans, however, that doesn’t mean that their mother stopped fighting for them! Later on in the game, we finally find the protagonist’s mother again (Myrrine) and, by doing so, we discover the hardship that she went through in trying to find us! She is a truly loving and incredibly strong character, willing to go to the end of the world for her kids.

Aya in Assassin’s Creed Origins

At number 5 is Aya in Assassin’s Creed Origins!

Aya is an interesting character because she can be considered both the main character and a side one! She can be considered the main character because, initially, while the game was in development, she was supposed to become the protagonist but, eventually, she was put in second place with Bayek taking her spot, which makes her a side character. Even though she wasn’t in the spotlight in the final version of the game, she still has as much depth and strength as Bayek and, honestly, we hope we get to see a game focused solely on her in the future.

Layla Hassan in Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey

At number 4 is Layla Hassan in Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey!

This might be a bit of a controversial pick, simply because a lot of people think that the Assassin’s Creed series would be better off without the interventions from the real world characters, however, we disagree. After all, we are reliving the character’s ancestors’ memories so, it makes sense to have a real-world, present-day protagonist as well and that is what Layla is! She is determined and strong in the pursuit of the artifacts but, she is also battling Abstergo on the way, which is just quite admirable!

Barnabas in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

At number 3 is Barnabas in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!

This entry in the Assassin’s Creed series really had incredible characters from all over the Greek world but, one that we are very protective over is Barnabas! We first find him as he is being drowned in a pot full of water by The Cyclops and we instantly fell in love with him! He is funny, humorous and, honestly, he feels like family (kind of like an uncle that drank too much saltwater). Even though he is a very humorous character, he also has a pretty deep and convoluted backstory that had a lot of mishaps and hardships along the way, which makes him a great companion as we travel through the islands of ancient Greece!

Blackbeard in Assassin’s Creed IV Blackflag

At number 2 is Blackbeard in Assassin’s Creed IV: Blackflag!

Everybody loves pirates! They are the drunk criminals of the sea that are full of charm and rage, ready to hit whoever crosses their path or, help whoever tugs at their heartstrings! Blackbeard is all of these things and none! He is actually Edward Thatch and, throughout the game, we get to see him grow and develop alongside Edward Kenway (our loving protagonist), which instantly adds a lot of depth to it and connects him with the player! We eventually get to see him becoming Blackbeard and teach Edward Kenway a great lesson, complete with a speech to go with it! It is truly a great way to see his motivation behind his costume, why he wears it and what he hoped to achieve with it.

Leonardo Da Vinci in Assassins Creed II

Finally, at number 1 is Leonardo Da Vinci in Assassin’s Creed II!

Leonardo Da Vinci actually appears in two entries of the series (them being Assassin’s Creed II and Brotherhood) and we are very happy he does! He is the kind of character that we just can’t get tired of! He is charismatic, extremely smart (after all, he does design weapons, decode codex pieces, among other things) and he’s also a great friend of Ezio… did we miss anything? Oh, yeah, he’s also Leonardo Da Vinci, you know, just one of the greatest minds that the Planet Earth has ever been graced with! Of all the iconic and historical characters that we have met throughout the Assassin’s Creed games, this has to be the most legendary one and one that we feel very lucky to have met!
